This week I will be reviewing two books that are by the same
authors: Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen.
This is their second collaboration together on a novel, as The Wife Between Us was their first
novel together.
Before I get started on the reviews I would like to thank
Macmillan Publishers for providing me an advanced reader’s copy of An Anonymous Girl, to which will be
released on January 8, 2019.
The Wife Between Us
This books was actually part of one of my choices for my
subscription to Book of the Month a few months ago.  When I read the synopsis, I knew I had to
read it.  It was very vague, but it left made
me intrigued.  The Wife Between Us really reminded me of Gone Girl as that you will make assumptions at the beginning, but
as you keep on going, the story is completely different than what you
expect.  To try and not give too much
information away, based on the title alone, you may think this a book about a
jealous ex-wife and a love triangle, but as at the end of the synopsis says “Assume
nothing”.
Again, I was completely blown away by this book.  I was literally left with my mouth dropped
open, unprepared for the many twists and turns that were in the book.  I would definitely recommend this book to
anyone who is interested in a fun thriller and ready to be left in shock.
An Anonymous Girl
So, I want to say about a month or two ago, I saw on Facebook
an advertisement for anyone that enjoyed The
Wife Between Us, if they would be interested in a copy of the authors new
book, An Anonymous Girl.  I thought to myself I really loved The Wife Between Us, and went ahead
signed up.  I was not prepared for a
package to arrive with an advanced reader copy.
I was again speechless, because this is my first time in receiving an
advanced reader copy and not expecting to receive a copy.  I was already in the middle of a few other
books, and decided to read it after TheDark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein. Thus, this past Sunday I started
reading the book.
And again, just like their first book, I was not prepared
for the surprises that were in store.  The
basic synopsis I got is that a young woman, Jessica Farris, decides to sign up
for a study for psychology professor, Dr. Shields, but she is unprepared for
what she has actually signed up for.  The
main characters have to come to terms with their past, and ask herself what
would they do that would be considered morally correct in certain
situations.  Another surprising book to
read as there are so many surprises, and then ending is different than what you
expect.
I highly recommend both of these books if you liked thrillers,
and just want be asking yourself, “Where are these authors heading?” I know
that Sarah Pekkanen has written some other novels, to which I definitely want
to read after finishing these books.  As
for Greer Hendricks, The Wife Between Us
is her first novel.
Please tell me your thoughts on these books or if you have a
recommendation for any other good books that have left you speechless.
