Ready, Set, Go!

Summer reading has started and as an avid book reader, I decided that in order to keep track of the number of books I have read, I would start my own book blog.  As a book lover, I do not discriminate.  Therefore, in this blog you will find book reviews are various book genres.  Each week (or once I have completed a book) I will posted a brief synopsis and my own personal thoughts.  Without further ado, here is my first review.  J

The Hamilton Affair by Elizabeth Cobbs

The subject of Alexander Hamilton has certainly become very popular since Lin Manuel Miranda created the Tony award winning musical, Hamilton.  I had come across this novel when searching on Goodreads for a historical fiction novel.  I have never seen the musical, but the brief synopsis on the website had me intrigued.

Cobbs is able to take the reader through the life of Alexander and Elizabeth Hamilton.  From their upbringing, courtship, marriage, and during Alexander’s work in establishing America’s economy, The Hamilton Affair is a work of fiction with elements of history.  The story is able to draw in the reader to view the lives of these two individuals during the time America was declaring their independence from England.

The Hamilton Affair is the first novel of my June TBR (to be read), and I was able to complete this in 3 days.  I was able to learn some new information about the man who impacted America.  This story has everything from romance to betrayal and war to self-determination.  I would definitely recommend this book to individuals who are interested in learning about Alexander and Eliza Hamilton, or to anyone who would like to read a good historical romance novel.
